Post 3 French Revolution

The middle class citizens, in the third estate, bourgeoisie. Because they were included in the third estate, and because of this they received little social advantages in society. The bourgeoisie, who were lawyer doctors and bankers, owned 20-25% of the land. The third estate was oppressed. Louis was a weak leader and was having trouble ruling France.

Enlightenment #2

Enlightenment ides were slow to influence the lives of most because most people including the church were against all the enlightenment thinkers and their ideas. They did not like how people were challenging authority and went against the bible. Also the monarchy would punish enlightenment thinkers in Europe so they decided to go for the church instead of the government.

#1 Enlightenment

Question: Compare the views of Thomas Hobbes and John Locke on human nature. How did these views influence their ideas on the proper role of government?

Thomas Hobbes believed that people needed to be governed and are purely evil, while Locke believed that every person had the right to life, liberty, and property. Hobbes believed that there should be a monarchy and Locke believed in self government.
